Winchester Earns Top Seed In North Volleyball

Sachems get first-round bye after a 19-1 season.

WINCHESTER, Ma - A 19-1 regular season has its reward and for the Winchester volleyball team that's a No. 1 seed in the MIAA North sectional tournament. The MIAA released the boys' volleyball pairings Tuesday.

The Sachems have a first-round bye and will host the winner of the Lexington (12-5) vs. Latin Academy (13-7) game on Tuesday, June 4 at 6 p.m. in the quarterfinals. Winchester was the top seed in the 2018 tournament but lost in the quarterfinals to Chelmsford. Winchester's only loss this spring was to Needham in April.

Other top seeds include Greater New Bedford in the South, Assabet Valley in the Central, and Westfield in the West.

Latin Academy (13-7); 10. Acton-Boxborough (13-7); 11. Wayland (13-7); 12. Cambridge R&L (11-7); 13. Essex Technical (11-7); 14. Lowell Catholic (12-8); 15. Chelmsford (11-9).
