Winchester Girls Win Division 2 State Soccer Title

Sachems beat Hopkinton on second half penalty kick.

Winchester won the MIAA Division 2 state soccer title, 1-0, Sunday, beating Hopkinton on a second-half penalty kick at Marshfield High School.

Senior captain Grace Casey was the hero, scoring on a penalty kick after Hopkinton was called for a hand ball in the box.

Winchester finished 22-1 and won its first state title since winning the Division 1 crown under coach Chris Scanlon in 2002.
