“We named him Talan because it’s an eagle’s claw, which references freedom and strength,” said father Patrick Kelley, a Georgetown resident. “The name seemed to be very fitting for him. And we named him Richard after my brother who passed away last year from ALS.”

Beth Blazonis was in labor for nearly 24 hours. Talan Kelly had the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck during labor.

“He struggled a little bit,” said Blazonis, “But he’s healthy. He’s a little blue, a little bruised, but he’s all good. He’s a fighter.”

Talan Kelley has joined the already large Kelley-Blazonis family. He is the family’s sixth child brought into the world.

The parents thanked the entire staff of Winchester Hospital for helping with the birth of their son. “The staff was absolutely amazing,” said Patrick Kelley. “Talan was born and there was a dire moment or two. It was scary, but the staff was incredible, just incredible.”
