2 Badly Injured In Fiery Worcester Crash

A man and woman were hospitalized after being pulled from a flaming, overturned car, police said.

WORCESTER, MA — Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries Monday after a fiery single-vehicle crash in Worcester.

In a news release, Worcester police said a man and woman in an SUV were traveling on Sunderland Road near Maranda Street when the driver lost control of the car around 4:45 p.m.

The car left the roadway, struck a tree and flipped before catching fire, police said. The man and woman were trapped inside the burning vehicle.

Fire department and EMS workers removed the man and woman from the car before taking them to a nearby hospital, authorities said. Both had serious injuries.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing. No further information was immediately available.
