2 New K9s Join Worcester Police Force
Ace and Mattis are the two newest officers on the Worcester police squad.
WORCESTER, MA—There are two new officers on the force in Worcester, and they eat kibble.
The Worcester Police Department has added two new dogs to the K9 Unit. K9 Ace, German Shepherd, and K9 Mattis, a Belgian Malinois, finished up 14 weeks of patrol training at the Boston Police K9 Academy. The 14 weeks included intense training for the K9s and their partners, prepping them to perform their duties and patrol the city.
The two new police dogs join the four other canines currently on the force. The department’s canines are deployed to locate suspects, missing persons, articles of evidence, narcotics, and ballistics. The two canines, the K9 vehicles and their training were funded by: City Manager Edward M. Augustus, state funding secured by Senator Michael Moore and contributions made by Vest-A-Dog.
