4th Of July Forecast: See Worcester Weather Outlook

You might need a sweater (and possibly an umbrella) this year, according to the latest forecasts.

WORCESTER, MA — It might be hard to believe after this week's heat wave, but it's going to be a pretty cool 4th of July weekend in the area — some might say even a little chilly.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), daily highs on Saturday and Sunday will hover at or below the 70-degree mark. Saturday will be the cooler day, with temperatures struggling to get past 65.

There's also a pretty good chance of rain both weekend days. The chance of rain on July 4 is only 40 percent, but it will fall after dusk if it does, according to the forecast.

Friday: Showers likely. Patchy fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 72. Northeast wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Friday Night: Showers likely, mainly before 10pm. Patchy fog. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Saturday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. Northeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Saturday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. North wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Independence Day: A chance of showers after 7am. Partly sunny, with a high near 75. North wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 58. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable after midnight.
