WORCESTER, MA — It's going to be a perfect Labor Day weekend in the Worcester area with sun and temperatures in the mid-70s.

Well, almost perfect. There's still a pandemic, so going to a big barbecue or concert are off the table. But there's still plenty to do (safely) in Worcester this weekend. Here are just a sampling of pandemic-safe events that you can check out.

(And don't forget to peep any city or state park in the area with the nice weather.)

Board Meadow Brook Birding

The Mass Audubon Society is leading this bird tour through Broad Meadow Brook in south Worcester. Space is limited to 11 people due to coronavirus, but it also starts at 7 a.m. on Saturday. Contact bmbrook@massaudubon.org with questions.

The parking lot for Broad Brook Meadow is near 423 Massasoit Road if you want to visit the park in general.

Unusual Toy Exhibit

The Hearthside House, 677 Great Road, will open the "Toys from the Attic" exhibit on Sunday, which tracks the evolution of toys from the late 1800s through the 1980s. Due to coronavirus, the exhibit will be limited to groups of six in 30 minute blocks.

Apocalyptic Cyborg Costume Party Music Show

Ralph's Rock Diner will host a concert on Friday night with an apocalyptic theme. Attendees are encouraged to "dress up in pre- and post-apocalyptic gear" to see local band Between 3 and 4. There will be social distancing to avoid the actual end of any worlds.

Tell Your Coronavirus Story

A three-day weekend is the perfect time to reflect on the events of the last six months. The Worcester Historical Museum, Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Digital Worcester are collecting stories about Worcester amid the coronavirus pandemic. Beer and Dogs

Redemption Rock Brewery, 333 Shrewsbury St., has opened its "2021 Taproom Dogs" calendar contest. All you have to do is visit the taproom with your pooch, take a photo and enjoy a socially-distanced beer on the brewery's new patio. Proceeds from calendar sales will go toward a charity that trains service dogs.

Ride To The Wachusett Summit

Mt. Wachusett is running ski lifts to the summit all weekend. Once at the top, you can grab a bite at O’Brien’s Deck Bar and Grill. You can also take a short hike to the summit and reward yourself at O'Brien's beer garden.

Local Grocery Shopping

On Saturday, check out a unique grocery shopping experience at the Worcester Regional Food Hub's outdoor market from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Greendale People's Church, 25 Francis St. On Sunday morning, Nom's Eatery will be serving breakfast to-go beginning at 10 a.m.: huevos rancheros Johnny cakes and blueberry Johnny cakes with orange butter and honey.
