Beer In The Pumpkin Patch: See Worcester Area Fall Brews

With October in full swing, it's a good time to visit a local brewery for a taste of pumpkin-spice season.

WORCESTER, MA — When you're done at the pumpkin patch, you might be ready for a beer.

Pumpkin beers have been on store shelves for months, but now that cool October weather is finally here, you might actually be in the mood for an autumn-flavored brew.

Most local brewers are offering their take on the season, be it an Oktoberfest lager or a full-on brewed-in-the-pumpkin-patch ale. Here's a look at what brewers in the area have on tap right now:

3cross Fermentation, Worcester
Try the CX is Coming Oktoberfest or the Whirlwind wit bier for a taste of fall.

Tree House Brewing, Charlton
The top brewer in the state has several autumn brews to choose from: oak-condition Oktoberfest; an imperial milk stout with pumpkin and autumn spices; an autumn galaxy-hopped double IPA, and several more.

CraftRoots Brewing, Milford
The seasonal Autumn Ale is "brewed with real pumpkin and a very light touch of pie spice."

Start Line Brewing, Hopkinton
This brewer has a variety of seasonal beers in cans, including the Harvest Honey Saison.

Purgatory Beer Co., Northbridge
Out of the pumpkin patch and into the blueberry patch: this new brewery offers a Labor Day Blueberry Harvest Beer.

Jack's Abby, Framingham
There's no explicit pumpkin beer, but Jack's is chock-full of fest beers and some pumpkin-adjacent brews, like gingerbread barrel-aged Baltic porter.

Exhibit 'A', Framingham
No pumpkin beer, but the Focal Point Munich dark lager pairs well with an autumn day.

Kells Beer Co., Natick
Good thing Kells is open for pickup only. The Pumpkin Royale ale
("Thanksgiving in a glass") comes in at nearly 9 percent ABV, which is probably best enjoyed at home after a long day of raking leaves.

Lost Shoe, Marlborough
No pumpkin, but plenty of fall flavors to choose from, like a fest bier, and an ale brewed with sumac-glazed doughnuts.

Flying Dreams, Marlborough
Flying Dreams has in the past brewed an anti-pumpkin porter, but it's unfortunately not on tap presently — but the Oktoberfest beer is.

Medusa Brewing, Hudson
Medusa offers both a fest bier and an Oktoberfest on tap at its beer garden.

Ground Effect Brewing, Hudson
Offering cans and pours of Oktoberfest and German dark lager for the cool weather.

Wachusett Brewing Co., Westminster
You don't necessarily have to travel to Wachusett's brew yard because this brewer's popular Boo-Yeah pumpkin spice ale is available at many package stores.
