The well-known, beloved founder of Ed Hyder's Mediterranean Marketplace has died.

WORCESTER, MA—The beloved founder of the landmark Worcester store, Ed Hyder's Mediterranean Marketplace, has died, according to a post from the company on its Facebook page.
"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our store’s founder; our father, and boss, Edward Hyder," said the release. "Ed put his heart and soul into this store every day for 42 years. He started from scratch in 1975, and built this business on his honesty and integrity. He loved his customers, and built strong bonds and relationships with many of you through story-telling, recipe sharing, and the fact that he genuinely cared about every person he met. He will be greatly missed in this store, and in the Worcester community. We are grateful that we were able to work by his side and learn from him for all these years. In honoring his legacy, our family vows to continue to bring you the same great quality products and service that he did for decades."
