Flying Rhino Chef Leaves For Milford, Worcester Restaurants

The executive chef of the Flying Rhino is leaving to help open up a new Worcester restaurant, and take over another in Milford.

WORCESTER, MA—Christopher O'Harra has worked in kitchens for nearly 25 years in one way or another, and for the past six years, he's been the executive chef at the Flying Rhino in Worcester. For anyone who has eaten at the Rhino, you know the delicious, eclectic menu that comes out of that kitchen.

O'Harra is leaving the Flying Rhino for new opportunities.

He'll be teaming up with fellow chef Adam Hicks, who owns the Depot Street Tavern in Milford and is opening Maddi's Cookery and Taphouse in May on Water Street in Worcester. It'll allow Hicks to transition into overseeing the establishments and not stuck behind the cutting board.

"My immediate role for Adam will be to open Maddi's Cookery & Taphouse as executive chef, get that place up and running and successful, then transition into over seeing both culinary programs for his restaurants," said O'Harra. "It will be a learning experience for me for sure. I have never run two culinary programs before but I will bring my hard work and dedication with me and make it the best I can."

The union pairs up two winners: O'Harra won the People's Choice award at Worcester's Best Chef competition this year, and Hicks won in 2017.

When asked to describe his cooking style, O'Harra remarked, "I love to make food taste good, but honestly I don't have a specific cooking style. The Rhino is very eclectic with food flavors from all over the world. So I intend on bringing that experience with me to Maddi's."
