MA State Parks Closing Some Facilities Over Warm Weekend
Rolling 2-hour closures and other shutdowns will hit some state park facilities this weekend as temperatures head into the 70s.

WORCESTER, MA — If you're heading to a state park facility this weekend, check ahead for possible closures. State officials are trying to control crowds at popular outdoor destinations due to coronavirus.
As temperatures head into the 70s on Saturday and Sunday, the state Department of Conservation and Recreation has announced the closure of some facilities, and rolling 2-hour parking lot closures around the state.
On Saturday morning, the road to the top of Wachusett Mountain was closed, and hikers could only walk in one direction at Purgatory Chasm in Sutton.

The state also warned of parking lot closures at Blue Hills Reservation and Walden Pond. The parking lot at popular Hopkinton State Park was closed completely on Saturday.

This weekend, to ensure the safety & comfort of all visitors, @MassDCR will implement 2-hour park closures at some parks when they reach visitor capacity. Before heading out to a state park or property, be sure to check the @MassDCR twitter feed for updates on park closures

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures were expected to reach between 65 and 70 between Boston and Worcester on Saturday. The weather will be even warmer on Sunday, reaching as high as 74 in Boston.
