Man Arrested In Cab Driver Stabbing: Worcester Police
Among the charges are assault with intent to murder.

WORCESTER, MA—Police detectives have made an arrest in a stabbing of a cab driver that occurred on April 16.
Robert Rutledge, 35, Everard Street, Worcester, was arrested and charged with Armed Assault with Intent to Murder, Armed Robbery while Masked, Carjacking, and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. On April 19 at 12:27 p.m., Rutledge was arrested at his residence on the warrant. He will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
Around 3:10 p.m. on April 16, police were called to the area of Edward Street for a possible stabbing. The victim, a 34 driver for a cab company, was bleeding from the right side of his neck. Witnesses told police that the driver was struggling with an unknown man and there had been a knife. The suspect was a passenger before abruptly getting out of the cab and tried to pull the driver from the seat.

The suspect fled on foot down Eastern Ave.
The victim was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
