New 'Bravest' Beer Honors Worcester Firefighter, Supports Family
A new beer debuting on Jan. 24 is a collaboration between three local brewers, and will benefit Lt. Jason Menard's family.

WORCESTER, MA — Just in time for the weekend, a local brewery on Friday will release a new beer to benefit the family of Lt. Jason Menard, the Worcester firefighter who died fighting a fire in a triple-decker on Nov. 13.
Worcester's Bravest is a Belgian-style wit bier created by Wormtown Brewery in collaboration with Wachusett Brewing Company in Westminster, and Greater Good Brewing in Worcester. One-hundred percent of sales from the beer will go to the Menard Children’s Fund, which was set up by the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts Foundation after Menard's death.
"Worcester’s Bravest is a Belgian Wit. A light-bodied, unfiltered wheat beer with sweet and zesty citrus notes, some complex pepper spice and herbal hops that has a uniquely refreshing taste." —description of Worcester's Bravest on Untappd
Menard, 39, was a father of three, a graduate of Worcester's Doherty High School, and was the ninth firefighter to died in the line duty in Worcester since 1999. Wormtown created a similar "Bravest" beer in 2019 after the December 2018 death of Worcester firefighter Christopher Roy.
