Plantation Street In Worcester To Close After Memorial Day

WORCESTER, MA — A project to rehabilitate of the Plantation Street bridge in Worcester is almost complete, but crews will need to close the span this week for paving work.

According to MassDOT, traffic will alternate lanes beginning at 8 p.m. Tuesday and ending on Wednesday at 5 a.m. Beginning on June 7 at 8 p.m., the bridge will close completely for paving and reopen by 5 a.m. on June 8.

The bridge rebuild began in October 2019 and is expected to be complete this spring, according to MassDOT.

Once complete, the new bridge will feature new sidewalks on both sides, and three travel lanes: a north and southbound lane and a northbound left turn lane. There will also be travel lanes for bikes across the bridge and onto Aitchison Street, according to MassDOT.
