Refreshed I-290, I-190 Coming To Worcester By November
You may have noticed lots of overnight exit ramp closures. MassDOT is in the midst of a $9 million redo of the city's two freeways.

WORCESTER, MA — Every night this week, exit ramps along the I-290 and I-190 corridor in Worcester will be closed for construction. And if you've driven on the freeways, you may have noticed recently-milled pavement.
The city's two main freeways are undergoing a $9 million refresh right now, which will bring fresh pavement to about four miles of highway between Shrewsbury Street and Lake Quinsigamond, according to MassDOT.
There have been many overnight exit closures so far this construction season, but this week is perhaps the busiest. Every ramp between exit 16 and 21 in the westbound lanes will be closed nightly through July 2 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

MassDOT awarded the $8.7 million contract for the work one year ago. The project should be complete by Nov. 23, according to the agency.
By then, drivers will have a new road surface between Shrewsbury Street and Lake Quinsigamond along I-290. MassDOT will also repave just under a quarter mile of I-190 from the I-290 interchange to the Gold Star Boulevard exit.
