Streets Closing In Worcester For WooSox Home Opener
The first ever WooSox game at Polar Park begins Tuesday at 3:05 p.m. in the Canal District. Police are closing streets due to foot traffic.

WORCESTER, MA — It's finally here: The Worcester Red Sox will play for the first time at Polar Park on Tuesday — and that likely means more congestion in the already packed Canal District.
The WooSox will face off against the Syracuse Mets at 3:05 p.m., but the festivities will begin well before that. Polar Park has room for about 9,500 fans, but only a quarter of that capacity (2,377) will be filled due to lingering coronavirus restrictions.
Worcester police will keep Gold, Ash and Washington streets closed to cars all day on Tuesday due to higher foot traffic in the neighborhood. Those streets run into and alongside Polar Park's right field.

"The department is anticipating pedestrian traffic associated with the game, motorists are encouraged to exercise caution when traveling in the area surrounding the Canal District and the area surrounding downtown," Worcester police said in a bulletin Monday.
The 2-4 WooSox will of course be looking for a win to christen Polar Park. The Syracuse Mets enter the season 1-5 after losing five games straight to the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
