WORCESTER, MA — A new Tex-Mex restaurant opened recently at Lincoln Plaza in Worcester, taking over a portion of a building that was previously occupied by a Ruby Tuesday restaurant.

The Torito restaurant in Worcester is the second in Massachusetts. The first opened in Danvers in February in a building that was previously occupied by a Chili's.

According to paperwork filed with the Secretary of the Commonwealth's office, Torito is operated by restaurateur Ramon Michel, who appears to have extensive experience running restaurants in several states. Michel operated several Tex-Mex and Italian restaurants in the Indianapolis area, and the Cantina Del Rio Mexican Restaurant in Warwick, RI, according to public records.

Michel has also filed with the Secretary of the Commonwealth's office to incorporate a Torito location in Framingham. The address for that location is a former Indian restuarant along Route 9 called Godavari.

The Ruby Tuesday at Lincoln Plaza closed in 2020 along with the Holyoke and Wrentham locations after the chain filed for bankruptcy. About 150 Ruby Tuesdays closed nationwide in 2020 due to the bankruptcy.
