Video: CT Men Arrested After MA State Police Pursuit

The pursuit began in Sturbridge along I-84 on Tuesday afternoon, according to state police.

STURBRIDGE, MA — Two Connecticut men were arrested and charged with multiple traffic violations Tuesday afternoon after a pursuit that began along I-84 involving state police.

The pursuit began around noon when a state trooper tried to pull over an Acura along I-84 that was missing a front license plate, state police said. The driver began trying to avoid the trooper, and got off the highway at exit 3.

The driver then got back on I-84 heading eastbound, and the trooper watched the driver and passenger switch places, according to police. The pursuit eventually wound up on side roads with a state police helicopter flying above.

The driver eventually pulled over, and the three men in the car got out and laid on the ground awaiting arrest.

Oscar Santiago, 25, of Hartford and Omar Santiago, 25, of New Britain, were each charged with: reckless driving; leaving the scene of a crash; failure to stop for police; negligent operation of a vehicle; attaching plats wrong; operating an unregistered vehicle; speeding; operating a vehicle without a license; breakdown lane violation; marked lanes violation; failure to signal; improper turn; and passing violation.

The third passenger was released, state police said.
