WORCESTER, MA — Thursday was officially the hottest March 11 on record in Worcester, according to the National Weather Service.

Worcester reached 70 degrees on Thursday, shattering the previous record of 66 degrees set in 1977, according to the weather service.

It was a day of record highs across the state. Boston hit 74, breaking the 1990 record of 67 for March 11; and Providence hit 72, breaking the 1990 record of 71.

Hopefully you enjoyed the sun and (relative) heat. Temperatures will begin a steady decline on Friday with a high of 59 in the forecast. Daytime highs will be back in the 30s by Monday, according to the weather service — and there's a chance of snow in the forecast for next week.
