Worcester Man Tried To Stop Firefighters As Car Burned: Police

The 40-year-old was later arrested and charged with interfering with a firefighter, police said.

WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester man tried to block firefighters from putting out a car fire Monday night in the Piedmont area, according to police.

When firefighters responded to a car on fire in the driveway of a home at 2 Shawmut St, a 40-year-old man at the scene tried to take a hose from them, and started shouting, police said.

The man then got into a Jeep Cherokee and drove over the fire hose. He eventually drove off and was gone by the time police arrived around 9:30 p.m.

However, police tracked the suspect to his home on Union Hill. He was arrested and charged with burning a motor vehicle and interfering with a firefighter, police said.
