WORCESTER, MA — Worcester and the surrounding towns could see the most snow in the entire state in a storm set to hit Friday morning, according to some forecasts.

The National Weather Service is predicting up to 3 inches in and around the city on Friday, more than the 2 inches predicted for the Berkshires.

The remnants of Hurricane Zeta will force winds to shift from the south to the north beginning Thursday night, sucking in cold air and turning rain into snow. The changeover to snow should happen around sunrise on Friday, according to forecasts.

However, some forecasts are not as deep for Worcester. NBC10 Boston Meteorologist Aaron Perry told Patch the Worcester hills could see between 1 and 2 inches of snow, with the Berkshires getting up to 3 inches.

Commuters should be aware of slick roadways. Snow is also expected along the I-495 corridor and along the Mass Pike east to Boston.

If Worcester does get 3 or more inches on Friday, it would be a record-setter. The all-time snow record for Oct. 30 in the city is from 2011 when 3.2 inches fell.
