WORCESTER, MA — One of the best local businesses in the U.S. is located in Worcester, according to the readers of Vogue magazine.

The Kelley Square plant boutique Seed to Stem, 138 Green St., was among just 18 businesses nationwide (and one of five along the East Coast) picked for inclusion in the magazine's retail directory.

Seed To Stem offers shoppers a lush variety of houseplants, plus handmade home goods like wall decorations and bath products, plus unique items like healing crystals and incense. The store is also home to a startling array of taxidermy, including a full-size black bear.

"The three female owners of Seed to Stem in Worcester say that their shop is often described as a natural history museum crossed with a botanical garden: Weathered skulls and sage sticks are scattered among Venus flytraps; crystals adorn cacti; and mystical moon-charm necklaces sit nestled among Monsteras," the magazine wrote.

Seed To Stem is housed in a sort-of hip shopping mall alongside venerable businesses like the Crompton Collective, Bedlam Book Cafe and BirchTree Bread.
