Worcester Toddler Falls From Second-Story In Grafton Hill

The accident happened Tuesday morning at a home along Pilgrim Avenue, according to police.

WORCESTER, MA — A 2-year-old girl was injured Tuesday morning in Worcester when she fell from a second-story window, according to police.

The incident happened near 9:30 a.m. at a home along Pilgrim Avenue in the Grafton Hill area. Police said the toddler was "conscious and alert" when police arrived, but her condition was unclear. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

The girl fell when she pushed against a fan that was in a window, police said.

A 3-year-old girl was seriously last June when she fell out the second-story window along Illinois Street. She pushed an air conditioner out of the window and landed on the pavement in the driveway of the home, police said at the time.

Worcester health officials have discussed a law requiring window guards to prevent children from falling. The Worcester Board of Health in October 2019 held a lengthy discussion on the idea several months after a 2-year-old fell out the window of a home along Henchman Street. Worcester fire officials have pushed back on the idea, saying that it might endanger firefighters
