Worcester's 2020 Memorial Day Ceremony Will Be Online
Worcester won't hold its usual in-person service this year due to coronavirus, but the ceremony will stream online.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester will not hold any public ceremonies over Memorial Day weekend, opting instead to hold an online broadcast of events to remember people who died in war.
Worcester officials say it's too early to allow crowds to form, even as coronavirus appears to be plateauing in central Massachusetts and across the state. On Monday, Worcester reported the lowest number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care since late April.
Beginning at 3 p.m. on May 25, residents can watch the usual Memorial Day ceremonies on the Worcester government channel and on the city's Facebook page. This year's event will include a tour of the under-renovation World War I memorial at Green Hill Park, which officials say will be completed soon.

In the meantime, the graves of veterans across the city are being decorated with flags.
In 2019, Worcester held three events over two days, including a water ceremony at Elm Park, a massing of colors at Hope Cemetery, and a wreath-laying ceremony at the Massachusetts Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Those same events will take place this year.
