Worcester's 3Cross Brewery Will Reopen On 6th Anniversary

For the second time in 2020, the 3Cross Fermentation Coop is celebrating its reopening.

WORCESTER, MA — One of Worcester's main craft breweries is set to open its taproom for the first time since the coronavirus lockdown — the second reopening this year for 3Cross Fermentation Coop.

3Cross will reopen on Friday, and is one of the last Worcester breweries to reopen after Gov. Charlie Baker began allowing sit-down service at restaurants and taprooms at the beginning of summer. This weekend is also the brewer's sixth anniversary — and coincidentally, patrons will have to remain 6 feet apart while visiting.

In January, 3Cross reopened after being closed since February 2019 due to a plumbing problem. The brewer's new facility occupies a more than 5,000 square-foot space on the first floor of a building at 4 Knowlton Ave. in the Webster Square area.

But due to the pandemic, the brewery will have limited space: three tables inside and three outside. There will also be a reservation system for patrons to snag a table ahead of time. 3Cross will also have a contact-free ordering system via its online store. The brewery has been selling cans to go throughout the pandemic.

3Cross will have 10 beers on tap, and is working on rolling out a new brown ale named after Sheldon Brown — a guru bike mechanic who was based out of Newton's Harris Cyclery.

As of this week, only the Worcester Flying Dreams facility is still closed after the March shutdown — although the brewer's Marlborough taproom is open. Other main brewers like Redemption Rock, Wormtown and Greater Good Imperial Brew opened over the summer.
