On Wednesday, July 22, Asprelli and Fraone partnered with the Wonderfund team for an afternoon filled with creating fun-filled "Wonder Kits," also termed "Trauma-Stress Kits," for the most vulnerable children in the state.
To combat the inability to host activities for children, the Wonderfund team, along with Asprelli and Fraone, put together 1,500 care packages for children across Massachusetts.
Working in assembly lines, Asprelli and Fraone packed the "Wonder Kits" with anti-stress items including stress balls, coloring books, playdough, bubbles, a beach ball and much more. Each of the 29 Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) locations in Massachusetts will receive 50 "Wonder Kits" to distribute to the children that need the items the most.
After being isolated at home for months, Asprelli and Fraone were eager to get back to volunteering alongside the Wonderfund. Under the Wonderfund’s guidance, the DECA team receives first-hand experience in what it means to help others, especially in times of uncertainty. Although it is hard to interact with the children during the pandemic, this did not stop them from serving and continuing their passion for helping these children.
The Wonderfund is a private, 501(c)3, non-profit organization. Lauren Baker, the First Lady of Massachusetts, serves as the Wonderfund’s Vice Chairman. The organization works alongside DCF to serve children who have experienced abuse, neglect and trauma. The Wonderfund provides emergency aid, financial assistance and enrichment experiences to children in need.
DECA is a business class that guides young leaders through real life experience in the fields of marketing, finance, entrepreneurship, management and hospitality.
