If Scott Brown wants to face off against Edward Markey in the next senate election, the results of a new poll suggest he’s going to have a tough time about it.
According to the Massinc Polling Group, 43 percent of Massachusetts registered voters said they would vote for Markey as apposed to 38 percent for Brown.
Brown, a former Wrentham resident, was a Republican senator for Massachusetts who beat out now Attorney General Martha Coakley in the race to fill Ted Kennedy’s vacant seat in the U.S. Senate and then lost to Elizabeth Warren in 2012.

Brown has not stated whether he will run for reelection in 16 months for the 2014 senate race.
Earlier in the year, Brown was leading Markey by 18 points and claimed he could potentially beat Markey if he decided to run instead of Gabriel Gomez during the election for the state congress seat to fill John Kerry’s vacant seat.
