Snapchat Threat Gets King Philip Student Charged, Suspended

The Snapchat, which featured the teen with a toy rifle, said,"I'm making my list, checking it twice, going to see who is naughty or nice."

WRENTHAM, MA — King Philip families were notified after a Snapchat threat of a teen holding a toy airsoft rifle warning people not to go to school circulated.

"If I sent this to you, don’t go to school Monday," the Snapchat read. "I’m making my list, checking it twice, going to see who is naughty or nice."

The student who police believe the threat originated from was pulled out of class Monday morning and suspended pending a 10-day safety evaluation. He will be criminally charged in Dedham Juvenile Court.

Police said the student insisted the post was an joke gone wrong.

"He readily acknowledged the stupidity of his actions and was very remorseful," police said in a statement.

The administration was made aware around 8:45 a.m. after two students brought the Snapchat threat up to school staff. School officials then told the School Resource Officer.

An investigation was launched, and no threatening or dangerous items were found at the school.

Classes continued as scheduled Monday

"I want to commend the two students that brought this issue to the attention of our staff at the high school," Superintendent Paul Zinni said in a statement. "They should be proud of themselves and we encourage all parents to talk to their children about what they would do if they found themselves in a similar situation."
