The Election Was A Month Ago. 4 Michigan GOP Congressmen Won’t Say Who Won The Presidency.
Donald Trump has continued to push baseless conspiracies about voter irregularities.

Two Michigan Republican members of Congress, U.S. Reps. Fred Upton (R-St. Joseph) and Paul Mitchell (R-Dryden), have been on record that Democrat Joe Biden is the president-elect.
Mitchell, who is retiring this year, tweeted his congratulations on Nov. 7 after the Associated Press called the election for Biden.

Congratulations to President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris. This election was hard-fought by both candidates and ultimately the voters chose them for the job. America now looks to you to lead our country and unite us for the common good.

Upton, the dean of Michigan delegation, issued a similar statement on Nov. 7.
We have to find a way to come together, bridge divisions, and focus on solutions that help the millions who are struggling. I am raising my hand and committing to working with President-elect Biden and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in Congress to do exactly that. pic.twitter.com/EXWLWKmBdp

However, they’re in the extreme minority, according to reporting from the Washington Post. This comes as President Trump continues to falsely insist he won, even though Biden won 7 million more votes than Trump nationwide on Nov. 3 and has 306 votes in the Electoral College to Trump’s 232.

Trump has continued to push baseless conspiracies about voter irregularities. He and his allies have lost dozens of cases in key states, including Michigan. Biden won the state by about 154,000 votes, 51% to 48%. Attorney General Barr said this week there isn’t evidence of widespread fraud that would overturn the election.
Michigan state House Republicans invited Trump’s lawyers, Jenna Ellis and Rudy Giuliani, to a committee hearing this week in which they made the case for lawmakers to set aside results and appoint Trump electors — which is illegal under Michigan election law.
More than a month after the election, only 25 of 222 GOP members of Congress acknowledge Biden was the winner, per the Washington Post. Two members of Congress incorrectly say Trump won, U.S. Reps. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) and Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.).

In Michigan, the four other GOP members of Michigan’s 16 member congressional delegation refused to answer inquiries from the Post about who won the presidency: U.S. Reps. Jack Bergman (R-Watersmeet), Bill Huizenga (R-Zeeland), John Moolenaar (R-Midland) and Tim Walberg (R-Tipton).
The Post noted some social media posts, but none were recent.
On Nov. 6, Bergman wrote on Facebook: “The people of Michigan deserve to know their votes have been counted, that their voice has been heard, and that their government is being transparent and accountable. Michigan needs to be an example for the rest of the country that we will not stand for election fraud. … All legal votes need to be counted, and all evidence of fraud must be thoroughly investigated.”
Some Michigan GOP lawmakers not yet ruling out illegal post-election intervention
On Nov. 7, Huizenga posted on Facebook: “I believe that President Trump has a process that he can and should go through. We have to go through this for there to be confidence in what’s going on. And I understand the media and the Left are in a big, big hurry to get this done and over with and have Joe Biden declared president, but that’s not where we’re at yet.”
On Nov. 9, Moolenaar wrote on Facebook: “There should always be transparency and fairness in the vote-counting process. Reports of irregularities should be investigated and people should feel confident their vote was fairly and accurately counted.”
The Michigan Advance is in the process of contacting every Republican member of the Michigan Legislature about their stances on the election and legislative intervention.
