Goats Chow Down On Christmas Trees At Farm In Western Michigan

Hold the hay, grass and weeds at the Lewis Adventure Farm and Zoo in New Era: these goats have a new seasonal favorite.

Discarded Christmas trees are fed to the goats at the Lewis Adventure Farm and Zoo in New Era, FOX 17 reported. The farm is asking area residents to donate their recycled trees so the more than 40 goats that live there can have a post-holiday feast.

“Pine needles have a lot of Vitamin C in them, so they're getting some vitamins there, and it's a natural de-wormer for goats too,” Jenny Ferels, the farm's brand ambassador, told FOX 17.

The goats preferred the trees with firm and pokey needles, the news station reported during their visit. But Ferels said the goats "have never been known to turn down any tree."

So when it comes to Christmas trees, these goats do eat anything.
