Jerry Selbee liked numbers and puzzles. Playing the lottery became profitable retirement pastime.

Meet Jerry Selbee, a retired Kellogg's worker-turned convenience store owner who discovered the Michigan lottery – and made it much more than a pastime. It became a way to fund his retirement. Huffpost has an awesome (and very detailed, lengthy) account of the Selbees and what they did. The story chronicles how Jerry figured out a way to game the lottery system, where his odds of winning one game were actually better than the state's. Along the way, Selbee and his wife made some $27 million over nine years of playing one game.
