Michigan Mask Dispute Leads To Stabbing, Deadly Shooting
A dispute over the requirement to wear a mask led to a stabbing and prompted a deadly officer-involved shooting outside Lansing Tuesday.
MICHIGAN — A dispute over the requirement to wear a mask led to a stabbing and prompted a deadly officer-involved shooting outside Lansing Tuesday.
Police said 43-year-old Sean Ernest Ruis was shot and killed by an Eaton County Sheriff's deputy after he walked toward her while brandishing a knife. Ruis later died at a local hospital, according to police. The deputy was not injured.

Ruis was accused of stabbing a 77-year-old man at a Quality Dairy Store after the two had argued over whether Ruis should wear a mask in the building. A description of his car was put out and Ruis was pulled over by cops.
MSP Lansing Troopers said they and Eaton County Sheriff’s Department Deputies responded to a Windsor Township Quality Dairy store around 6:45 AM for a 911 call about a stabbing.

Police said two customers were inside the store and had an argument about one of them not wearing a mask indoors. According to police, Ruis pulled out a knife and stabbed the 77-year-old customer wearing a mask.
Ruis then drove away from the scene before being pulled over by an Eaton County Sheriff's deputy, police said. Ruis got out of his vehicle and walked toward the deputy with the knife, police said.
In the video, the deputy walks backward to increase distance between herself and Ruis before he begins running at her, prompting her to shoot him. Ruis died during surgery at a local hospital, according to police.
The stabbing victim from the Quality Dairy store was transported to a local hospital for his injuries and is alive, police said. The deputy was not injured, police said.
