Michigan broke all sorts of records for being cold this week.

If you've been outside this week in southeast Michigan, you might have noticed that it was perhaps a tad chilly. Maybe your car didn't start. Maybe you slipped on a patch of ice walking out of your house at some point. Perhaps you and the kids braved the cold to get in some sledding. Or, maybe you just stayed under your blankets not bothering to brave the ice and snow.
One thing we could all agree on as citizens of the Great Lakes state, is that the sub zero temperatures made it seem like you were living in the tundra. Metro Detroit, with a temperature of -4, set a new a record on Wednesday, Dec. 27, as did Flint with a record -14, according to the National Weather Service.

If you're going stir crazy from being indoors, maybe you're up to get some skiing in? Popular ski destinations Pine Knob and Mount Brighton are open despite the frigid conditions.
Although the winter can be a fun time for families and friends to take in some of the activities exclusive to this time of the year, whether it be skiing, outdoor New Years Eve celebrations, ice skating, or any sort of activity that you may be required to be outdoors for some extended period of time, the MSP recommend that you exercise some caution if you are planning to be outdoors.
Make sure your cars are equipped with food, water, and some extra blankets in case you get stranded and are awaiting someone to come to pick you up, wear proper winter attire, coats, gloves, scarves, hats to keep the cold at bay.
