These 11 Michigan Hospitals Are Among The Best In U.S.: Newsweek

MICHIGAN – Several Michigan hospitals were ranked among the best in America by Newsweek.

The magazine’s “World’s Best Hospitals” list for 2021 ranked the top hospitals around the world, including in the United States. It’s the third year Newsweek has published the list, for which it partnered with the data firm Statista.

Nine Michigan hospitals ranked among the top 200 in the U.S., while another two hospitals were included in the overall list but did not rank among the top 200.

Here’s how Michigan hospitals were ranked on the list:

1. University of Michigan Hospitals-Michigan Medicine, Ann Arbor: No.8
2. St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea, Chelsea: No.66
3. Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit: No.110
4. Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak: No.129
5. Sparrow Hospital, Lansing: No.144
6. Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe: No.154
7. Holland Hospital, Holland: No.155
8. Beaumont Hospital, Troy: No.172
9. Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, West Bloomfield: No.193
10. Mclaren Northern Michigan, Petoskey: No.236
11. St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor: No.334

In its methodology, Newsweek explained that it looked at three data sources to compile the rankings: recommendations from medical experts, results from patient surveys and medical KPIs on hospitals.

Hospitals in the U.S. were also recognized for infection prevention if they perfomed above the national average based on data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

These six Michigan hospitals were recognized by Newsweek for infection prevention:

Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe
Holland Hospital, Holland
Mclaren Northern Michigan, Petoskey
St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor
