When Geese Attack: High School Golfer Gets Tackled

This Michigan high school golfer is laughing now, but photos on social media show an angry goose getting his due.

BLISSFIELD, MI – They may look like delightful creatures from a distance, but to anyone who's ever encountered a Canada goose up close, they likely will say these fowl are neither charming nor friendly. They like to hiss, bite and snap at anyone who walks near them.

And, one golfer apparently learned he's not welcome on the same fairway.

The encounter occurred during a Blissfield High School golf match with Concord High School in Michigan on Saturday, April 21. Blissfield High School Athletic Director Steve Babbitt witnessed the incident – and got pictures of the goose flying after a golfer on the opposing team and apparently attacking him and knocking the golfer to the ground at the seventh hole at Wolf Creek Golf Club in Adrian.

Apparently, neither the golfer nor the goose were injured. And the only damage done was to a young golfer's pride, though he's having a few laughs sharing the story.

In an interview, Concord High School golfer Isaac Couling is identified as the golfer. He told WDIV, "everybody thinks it's funny that getting attacked by a goose made me famous."

The photos were posted to social media earlier this week. On Twitter, he added a simple question: "And you thought golf was boring?" It's generated thousands of retweets and some 36,000 likes on Twitter.
