7 Runners from Berkley, Huntington Woods Brave Heat at Boston Marathon
Thousands opt not to run Monday as temperatures reached into the 80s.

With temperatures rising dangerously into the 80s Monday, seven of eight registered runners from Berkley and Huntington Woods finished the Boston Marathon.
It was the second-slowest Boston Marathon race since 1985, as the unseasonable weather slowed the leaders and may have convinced as many as 4,300 entrants to sit this one out, according to a USA Today report.
Wesley Korir, a Kenyan citizen, won the marathon in 2:12:40. Fellow Kenyan Sharon Cherop won the women's race in 2:31:50. Â
