Berkley Actors to Appear in Purple Rose Play

Two actors from Berkley – Gregory Butka and Michael Brian Ogden – are appearing in a 10-week engagement of White Buffalo at The Purple Rose Theatre Company in Chelsea, MI.

White Buffalo by Don Zolidis – winner of the 2004 Princess Grace Award for Playwriting and a 2011 Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award – will premiere March 29 and run through June 2.

Inspired by true events, White Buffalo tells the story of the miracle birth of a white buffalo calf on a family farm in Wisconsin. When a white buffalo is born on Carol Gelling’s small farm, it heralds a Sioux prophecy of peace on earth and unity to mankind. Quickly, the farm becomes a hotbed of spiritual outpouring – from Native American pilgrims to the Dalai Lama. The publicity reaches Carol’s long-estranged husband whose return further complicates Carol’s life. When a mysterious businessman offers to buy the calf, Carol must decide whether the white buffalo signals the end of her financial hardships or the beginning of her personal enrichment. White Buffalo contains some adult language and content.
