Berkley Cancels School Due To Storm, Offers Childcare Options
With up to eleven inches of snow expected, Berkley Schools announced Friday's closing Thursday evening.

With a winter storm on the way and meteorologists predicting snowfall of 9 to 11 inches across the area, nearly every school in Metro Detroit and still more in Washtenaw and Macomb counties announced Thursday that Friday classes would be canceled. By midnight, Click on Detroit’s school closings page listed over 700 area schools that had announced weather-related closures for Friday. With so much snow predicted for the morning, Berkley Schools joined this large group of schools and announced the cancellation of its Friday classes.
According to the schools' webpage, “The District is closed in anticipation of the heavy snowfall predicted throughout the day. All events, including after-school enrichment and sports, are also canceled.” The school district website also advises parents with children in the Child Care program that Building Blocks school-year students will have the day off (Avery and Tyndall students included), but children in year-round childcare may attend at Tyndall, which will be open as usual, at 7 a.m. The district says that Tyndall staff should report to work. The Kids' Zone Latchkey program will also be available for drop-in services at Tyndall for a fee for any student already registered with Kids' Zone.
For parents wondering what Monday will bring, the Berkley Schools' website will have any announcements.
