Huntington Woods Running Low On Road Salt
With nearly a foot of snow expected by Sunday, Huntington Woods is keeping close watch on its dwindling road salt supply.

Huntington Woods and Grosse Pointe Woods are among metro Detroit municipalities facing a shortage of road salt, according to the Detroit Free Press. Officials in both towns announced Thursday they will no longer offer residents free salt because the harsh winter has greatly depleted municipal supplies.
Huntington Woods City Manager Amy Sullivan told the Free Press supplies are low enough that the city will use remaining salt for major intersections, with plows as the area’s main hedge against snow and ice accumulations. Warren, Sterling Heights and Oakland County all say they have enough salt for the current storm and beyond.
