Tornado Rips Through Rochester Hills
A Sunday morning storm with winds as high as 90 mph damaged homes, trees and power lines.

A storm that brought with it a tornado with winds up to 90 mph tore through Rochester Hills on Sunday morning, according to reports.

The National Weather Service confirmed that a 150-yard-wide tornado struck around 6 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, near Brewster and Tienken roads, the Detroit News reports. According to the Detroit News, between 15 to 24 homes were damaged by the winds. The Daily Tribune reports 23 homes were damaged, and four houses had their roofs blown in a six-block area.

The tornado also downed power lines and snapped a utility pole, the Detroit News reports. DTE Energy says 900 customers lost power because of the storm, but crews worked to restore service by noon Sunday, according to the News.

The winds from the storm were so great that a trampoline was sent crashing into the window of one home in Rochester Hills, the Detroit News reports.
