BIRMINGHAM BLOOMFIELD CHAMBER HOSTS “CASH MOB” TO SUPPORT DOWNTOWN BIRMINGHAM DURING CONSTRUCTION
Birmingham, MI - On Wednesday, May 16, the Birmingham Bloomfield Chamber will host a “Cash Mob” in downtown Birmingham, specifically visiting businesses in the Old Woodward Avenue construction zone located north of Maple Road. The Chamber is inviting members and friends to flood the area for a couple of hours of serious shopping. A similar event for merchants south of Maple is scheduled for June.
Following shopping, all participants are invited to join the Chamber for happy hour and complementary appetizers at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar.
“The Chamber has used ‘Cash Mobs’ for several years now to target specific business districts in our footprint to highlight the many wonderful shopping opportunities that exist in the areas and reinforce the point that stores and businesses remain open for business and are accessible even during major road construction,” said Chamber President Joe Bauman. “We conducted similar events during the Maple-Pierce and Hamilton Avenue construction projects and we know the affected merchants really appreciate the extra effort our guests made to support their businesses.”

Bauman said there is no charge to attend the event, and participating merchants will be providing a wide variety of discounts, specials and other goodies to “Cash Mob” shoppers.
“We are hopeful a lot of sales will be made in those two hours,” said Bauman, noting the term “Cash Mob” does not mean only cash will be accepted for purchases.
