Birmingham Man Swindled of $33,000 in On-line Car Scheme

Birmingham residents should be wary of purchasing vehicles, or other pricy items online sight unseen, police said.

These are from some of the latest reports shared by the Birmingham Police Department.

A resident in the 600 block of Mohegan attempted to buy a vehicle on E-bay but was conned of $33,000, police reports said. The resident told police on April 1 that they wired the money to purchase the BMW 5-series to an account, but lost all contact with the supposed seller. Police said a similar case was reported last month by a different Birmingham resident.

Department officials advised residents to be cautious when purchasing a vehicle sight unseen.
