Candy, $50 Could Land Alleged Thief In Jail For Life

A Pontiac man is facing life in prison if convicted via Michigan's "four strikes" law.

BIRMINGHAM, MI — A 51-year-old Pontiac man is facing the possibility in life in prison after allegedly stealing candy and about $50 in cash from a Bloomfield Township office building in April. Bonnie Williams is charged with felony breaking and entering and larceny from a building, according to a Birmingham Eccentric report.

Williams is being prosecuted under Michigan “four strikes law,” which allows repeat felony offenders to be sentenced to 25 years to life. He is currently being held in jail on a $150,000 cash/surety bond.
The case goes back to April 22, when a man was caught on a surveillance camera breaking into an office building at 1750 Telegraph Road. Surveillance video inside the building shows the same person forcing his way into locked office suites and rifling through desk drawers.
