New Year's Eve 2016 'Safe Ride Home' Free Cab Service Returns
Christensen Law is fighting drunk driving by offering to pay for cab rides home this New Year's Eve in five southeast Michigan counties.

Dave Christensen of Christensen Law is helping make Metro Detroit streets safer this New Year's Eve through his personal injury law firm's "Safe Ride Home" program. The super generous program will pay cab and Uber fares for rides to get you home in Wayne, Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Genesee counties on New Year's Eve in an effort to crack down on drunk driving. Christensen also extends the gracious - and lifesaving - offer on St. Patrick's Day and Thanksgiving Eve.
Christensen told Patch he and members of his firm often see the disastrous aftermath effects of drunk driving, "We see a lot of people whose lives are destroyed and really changed by traffic incidents, especially where there's alcohol involved. I have been doing this a long time and have seen a lot of pain and destruction. I've been involved in causes against drunk driving and substance abuse issues for a long time, like with Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and we started doing the 'Safe Ride Program' a couple years ago."
Last New Year's Eve, Christensen's 'Safe Ride Home' program helped "200 and change" Metro Detroiters safely make it home. As far as this year, Christensen says "I hope this helps a lot of people. I'm getting ready to write a lot of checks!" He sometimes hears from the people who take advantage of his generous gift, "We get nice emails. I even have gotten a handful of calls thanking us for doing it. There's no way to know if you've helped someone but after hundreds of people have used it, you hope something good happened."
