Cranbrook Schools' Student Found Dead

The circumstances of the Cranbrook Schools student's death are currently unknown.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — A 17-year-old student was found dead on the campus of Cranbrook Schools Wednesday, according to media reports. The circumstances of the student’s death are unclear. CBS Detroit reported that the student was from California.

“The Cranbrook Schools community is deeply saddened by this sudden and tragic loss,” Cranbrook Director of Communications Clay Matthews said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the student’s family during this painful time.”

Cranbrook Schools is located on a 319-acre campus in Bloomfield Hills. According to Cranbrook’s website, five schools are on the campus as well as an ice arena, a natatorium, Cranbrook Academy of Art and Museum and the Cranbrook Institute of Science. For the 2014-2015 academic year, Cranbrook Schools enrolled 1659 students, the website states.
