Driver Involved in Birmingham House Crash Still Hospitalized

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.


The man who crashed his car into a Birmingham home while leading officers from multiple police agencies on a chase in September remains hospitalized, police said. 

The 32-year-old Troy resident was seriously injured in the crash where Brown Street ends at Southfield Road at about 3 a.m. Sept. 28, authorities said. He remains in critical condition this week and the investigation is ongoing, Lt. Terry Kiernan of the Birmingham Police Department said.

Police reports said the man's vehicle nearly struck a Birmingham police vehicle responding to assist other police in the area of 14 Mile and Pierce, and then turned on Brown. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt. A passenger that was belted was not harmed. No one in the home reported any injuries. 

Retail Fraud

Employees at Anthropologie told police a woman posing as a shopper walked out of the store with merchandise she didn't pay for. The incident occurred at about 6 p.m. Oct. 28, and police have not identified the suspect, reports said. She is described as white with shoulder length frizzy red/brown hair, and between 23 and 29 years old. She stood about 5-feet-7 inches to - 5-feet-9 inches tall, was between 110-120 pounds, and wore a dark colored trench coat. She also had a large, square tan purse on her shoulder. 

Larceny at Work

A woman from the 200 block of East Brown Street reported her iPhone 4 and iPad 2 were stolen from her work desk sometime before 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 25. No suspect information was available..
