Police Cite Motorists For Drunken Driving Violations in Birmingham

The Birmingham Police Department provided the following information. Arrests, where they are mentioned, do not indicate conviction.

Officers with the Birmingham Police Department  made several arrests for alcohol or drug-related crimes over the past week. Here are the incidents highlighted from recent police reports.

  • Birmingham police arrested a 42-year-old Rochester man for drunken driving after they stopped his vehicle for speeding on Southfield Road at about 3 a.m. on Jan. 9, reports said. An officer cited him for operating while intoxicated and detained him until sober. He was released on bond and given a court date.
  • A Birmingham officer stopped a vehicle in the area of Woodward and Oak  due to a questionable license plate at about 2:30 a.m. Jan. 11, reports said.  The driver, a 26-year-old Birmingham man, was in possession of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia. Police arrested him without incident and issued citations for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Court dates are pending.
