Fire Rips Through The 555 Building

Streets by the 555 Building were shut down as firefighters battled the blaze.

(Updated). BIRMINGHAM, MI — A fire ripped through the 555 Building earlier today and the incident shut down nearby streets, according to a press release.

The Birmingham Fire Department was dispatched to a fire alarm at the 555 Building, South Tower at 10:15 a.m. today. Arriving firefighters observed a working fire near the 14th floor. Several local fire departments helped the Birmingham Fire Department extinguish the blaze.

Officials report that the fire has been contained and extinguished.

The cause of the fire is being investigated and there are no reported injuries at this time.

Northbound and southbound lanes on Woodward Ave. were closed near the 555 Building and northbound Old Woodward was closed from Maple to Lincoln.
