Help Santa Light Birmingham's Christmas Tree

The annual tree lighting ceremony will be held on Dec. 1 at Shain Park.

BIRMINGHAM, MI — Want to help Santa Claus light up Birmingham’s beautiful Christmas tree? One family will be chosen to enjoy hot cocoa and cookies with Santa at The Community House, followed by a horse-drawn carriage ride to the Birmingham Tree Lighting event on Dec. 1.

Entries must be submitted by Nov. 22. The event, which is sponsored by the Birmingham Shopping District, will be held starting at 6 p.m. at Shain Park.

Once there, the winning family will help Santa, Birmingham’s Mayor and other dignitaries with the official tree lighting ceremony. Topping off the evening, the family will be presented with a special gift.

Families can enter online by clicking here. The Christmas tree lighting takes place on opening day of the Birmingham Winter Markt event, scheduled for Dec. 1 - 3 in Shain Park.

Established in 1992, the Birmingham Principal Shopping District is comprised of nearly 300 retailers, including clothing retailers, restaurants, salons & spas, and antique shops. The district is also home to offices and a variety of businesses from financial services to technology-based firms.
