iPads Stolen From Quarton School; Impaired Drivers Arrested

Officers with the Birmingham Police Department are investigating the theft of four iPads from Quarton Elementary School sometime last week, according to reports. School staff contacted police on April 26 after discovering the district-owned devices were missing near the end of the school day.

One of the iPads had a black rubber case and the other three were covered in a red "skin" that said "Quarton School" on it.

Investigators believe the thefts occurred sometime between 9 a.m. on April 25 and 3 p.m. on April 26, reports said. No suspect information was available. Anyone with information is asked to call the Birmingham police at 248- 530-1870 or email birminghampolice@bhamgov.org.

Under the Influence

The Birmingham Police Department reported multiple arrests of motorists under suspicion of operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the past week.

• A 40-year-old Huntington Woods man faces charges under Michigan 'Super-Drunk' law after officers stopped him for swerving and driving erratically near Woodward Avenue and 14 Mile Road at about 1 a.m. Wednesday, reports said. The man had a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the state's legal limit. Officers arrested him without incident and issued him a citation with a pending court date.
• Officers arrested a 57-year-old Detroit woman who they caught driving erratically on Old Woodward Avenue near Landon Street on April 28. Officers stopped the woman at about 11:30 p.m. and found marijuana, miscellaneous drug paraphernalia and two loaded guns in the vehicle, reports said. She also had a suspended license and faces at least three charges at an upcoming court date.
• Officers arrested a 24-year-old Royal Oak woman for operating while intoxicated after they stopped her vehicle for erratic driving on 14 Mile Road near the Woodward Avenue intersection at about 2 a.m. on Tuesday, reports said. She received a citation and a pending court date.
